Guidelines for Reporting Scores

Please use the following guidelines when reporting scores. Following these guidelines will improve accuracy when scores are posted and also reduce the time necessary to keep scores up-to-date.

Format your email properly

Subject. Use the subject line of your email to identify the age group and the email as a reported score. For example:  10u Score

This allows us to filter out scores by age group and emails that may pertain to other business.

Message. In the message body of the email, you only need 3 lines:

  • Line 1: Date game was played
  • Line 2: Full team name and score
  • Line 3: Full team name and score

It doesn't matter which team is listed first but please use separate lines for each team. Also, be sure to identify the team clearly. Many communities have multiple teams in the same age group (i.e. Northville Broncos & Mustangs, Novi Heat Red & Black).  In addition, many teams from different communities have the same name (i.e. Ann Arbor Mustangs, Northville Mustangs, Michigan Mustangs). Also, "last Wednesday" is not a game date. Please provide the date in the form of month/day.

Compare the following examples. When recording dozens of scores each day, which do you believe leads to better accuracy?

Sample Score Email 1 (Bad):

Subject: Score
Message: Last Wednesday, Northville 13U 12 and Blues 13U #2 2

Sample Score Email 2 (Good):

Subject: 13U Score
Message:
6/15
Northville Mustangs - 12
SF Blues #2 - 2

Who reports scores?

The winning team is responsible for reporting scores. Failure to report scores in a timely fashion may result in the winning team forfeiting games for which no score is reported.

Keep an eye on the posted scores and standings

Each team is responsible for reviewing the standings and scores posted in the website. If you believe there is a mistake, please submit an email with the date and teams for the game in question. Explain what mistake you believe has occured and the results will be investigated.

NOTE: Sometimes teams report different scores usually a run or two difference. The first reported score will be recorded. One or two run differences will not be investigated unless the reported winner is different.

Where are scores reported?

Please report all scores to Steve at steve.sutton@kvbsa.com.

Note: Please only use the listed email. You may receive responses from my personal email account and you are welcome to reply to that account. Please do not send scores to both the KVBSA account and my personal account. This just creates more mail to deal with. Thank you.
